It has done it before and it will do it again. The Beach House Cabernet Franc was awarded a trophy at the Hawke’s Bay A&P Baileys Wine Awards in 2020. Winemaker Chris Harrison has always had an affinity for Cabernet Franc and it certainly shows here.
Hand-picked on the 5th April the grapes were de stemmed into small open topped fermenters. The ferments were hand plunged and pumped over to aid in extracting all the flavour and colour from the berries. The wine was pressed to French oak barrels (20% new) where it spent the next 10 months.
Bucket loads of spice emanate from the glass alongside boysenberries, dark cherries, chocolate and violets. The palate is rich and concentrated and seems to go on forever in the mouth. An impeccable wine from a faultless vintage and now sporting a more modern look with its new sexy black and gold label design.
This is another outstanding example of Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Franc from an excellent Hawke’s Bay vintage. Our Cabernet Franc is only produced in exceptional vintages. Enjoy from now until 2025.
