2008 Beach House Chardonnay
A stunning track record, in the top 10 in Cuisine 2000 and 2002 with the 2008 gaining 3 golds, all vintages have sold out quickly. This wine has the same potential. Aromas of mandarin, pineapple and peach with a nutty
seductively powerful ripe citrus palate. Barrel fermented and lees stirred, a fine textured and complex wine.
notes
2008 Beach House Gewurztraminer
The Gewurztraminer grows beside the Riesling at Te Awanga with the sea breeze limiting the cropping volume and producing very concentrated fruit flavours. Intense aromas of rose petals, turkish delight and lychee with spicy flavours of dried pear and honey tea on the pallet. With 5 grams residual sugar this wine is officially dry but it is all about the pallet balance. Worth the wait after many years of fickle crops.
notes
2008 Beach House Riesling
The cool sea breezes of Te Awanga have preserved the delicate aromas of pears, very ripe
apples and orange blossom. The ferment stopped slightly sooner than last year with the higher
residual sugar, working well with the acid to carry the flavours longer, with a nice lime
finish. Age will give this wine a great complexity.
notes
2009 Beach House Sauvignon Blanc
I am very pleased with this wine it is ripe enough to provide layers of complexity while still retaining fresh Sauvignon flavours. The wine has gooseberry and passionfruit aromas with hints of peach on the palate. A medium bodied wine with a crisp finish, perfect for those hot summer days.
notes
2007 Beach House Reserve Merlot
The Gimblett Gravels gives intensely aromatic merlot with dense fine tannins. “The wine opens with smoky, earthy, dark fruit and a dab of toasty oak on the nose. It has savoury cedary threads, supple mouthfeel and a long finish.” (Cuisine Recomendation 2009) A great value wine. A gold medal for the 2005 vintage at the Air New Zealand wine awards this wine is more than its equal.
notes
2007 Beach House Cabernet Malbec
A match made in heaven with the dominant Cabernet giving strong aromas of blackberries and brambles, following through to the palate with mint and vanilla. This is balanced beautifully with the Malbec giving savoury plum and intense colour. Winner of Two Silver medals. The fine tannins and texture of the malbec give this wine great weight and length.
notes
2007Beach House Cabernet Franc
The grapes for this wine were in such good condition that we let them hang on the vine to the bitter end. The ferment had an intense aroma of chocolate and violets. It was an obvious decision to make a
stand alone varietal. “This wine is rich and quite solid in feel, with generous personality. Fragrant rose-petal aromas and blueberry fruit have and earthy dimension and the palate is smooth and complete” (Cuisine Recomendation 2009) A great value wine.
The wine has been described by wine judges as big!!, with the tannin and fruit
giving this wine great balance. The ripeness of the fruit allows this wine to be enjoyed now with the
tannins set to carry it for the next ten years.
notes
2007 Beach House Montepulciano
This wine gave us our first trophy, it is similar to the 2006 but we crop thinned more and it rippened to a greater degree. All facets of this wine have a diamond like intensity that starts with its deep purple colour and lasts on the palate for an age, with layer apon layer of flavours developing.
notes
2008 Beach House Syrah
2008 produced a syrah with beautiful balance people sampling this wine immediately comment on it appeal. The resulting wine has Cherry; licorice and prune aromas. A long even, savory palate with great velvety tannins.
notes
2008 Beach House Rose
Hand pick on the 18th April. Crushed and allowed to soak over night on skins to extract a lovely rose pink, the grapes were then pressed with the juice cold settled and fermented in stainless steel with no oak contact. The resulting wine is a beautiful fruit salad, with aromas of strawberry, water mellon and forest berries. Perfect chilled on a summers day under a shady tree.
